reg 'Smithy' Smith is a renowned Western Australian political and sport cartoonist .
He landed his first cartooning job in the mid 1980's with the now defunct Daily News and for over 40 years he has worked for various Perth newspapers . For the past 22 years he has been the resident cartoonist for Perth's Sunday Times where his weekly "Smithy on Sunday" cartoon has collected numerous media awards .
His work features annually in the prestigious "Behind the Lines, Australia's Best Political Cartoons" exhibition , in Old Parliament House , Canberra .
