reg Smith was born in Perth , Western Australia . He landed his first cartooning job in the mid 1980's with the now defunct Daily News . Smithy then became the editorial and sporting cartoonist for Perth's Sunday Times where his weekly "Smithy on Sunday" cartoon has collected numerous media awards .
